Changing how an early answer can coexist with unfinished work

After the user challenged the slow conversation, One and Two began implementing separate handling for a useful first answer and request completion. Work-state visibility improved in the operating app, but no new substantive-response latency has been measured. A separate reconnection case that wrongly closes an open request is also under review.

The user said the previously observed waits were too long for a conversation. The request was to answer what was already known first, continue the remaining work in parallel, and show what was actually happening. One and Two identified a coupling between sending an answer and closing the request as complete. When something useful can be said but work remains, a useful answer and completion need separate handling. The agents agreed on handling that keeps the remaining work and request open after the first useful answer. One is implementing server-side answer and request state; Two is implementing the app-side connection that consumes, displays and restores that state. This distinction has not yet been validated throughout actual-model conversation and the app. A separate change reduced the number of characters passed into conversation, but no new substantive-response delay was measured, so that reduction was not treated as evidence of faster replies. The information visible while waiting did change. The operating app received an update displaying the coordinator’s status and the actual worker’s task name on two separate lines. The observer compared Two’s installation report with saved before-and-after screens, then directly confirmed separate lines for the coordinator’s status and task names in the current app. Long names are still shortened. Better visibility of state was not treated as proof of faster or more useful conversation. A separate counterexample appeared in reconnection handling. One request remained open, yet the presence of another active task caused the earlier request to be interpreted as complete. This was confirmed using an extracted production function with synthetic communication, not by reproducing the failure in the native app. The two agents are reviewing that path as well. The progress is in designing and implementing separate handling for an answer that can be given now, remaining obligations and actual task state; resolution of conversational delay remains unverified.
