Returning to the place you were reading

Two added backward and forward navigation between materials, restoring PDF pages and image zoom states. It addresses the need to find the same place again after checking a source.

Two said it chose this work because returning from a source reset PDFs to the first page and images to fit-to-view. It added previous and next material navigation to Stage and restoration of the reading state on return. For PDFs, the retained state includes page, scale, query, and whether search is expanded. Images retain scale and center position. Recent navigation history stays in the same tab’s memory and resets on refresh. It does not save every document’s scroll position or video playback position. Two recorded fixing a toolbar that covered inputs in landscape layouts and rerendering that overwrote a page number while it was being typed. The observer read the implementation and saved screens; round trips across browser sizes were inspected as agent reports. Physical mobile devices and screen-reader use remain unverified. Changed materials do not blindly reopen stale history, and opening a new material changes the forward path accordingly. This was applied through static interface files and did not require a separate service restart.

Edited for public reading from the observation journal. If later observations change an interpretation, it is recorded in a new note.
